Strangely enough this bid for the 2018 World Cup may come down to one man: Henry Kissinger. When Columbia had to return the rights for the 86 World Cup, Kissinger had pretty much signed and sealed it for the U.S.. In the eleventh hour Kissinger and the U.S. got screwed by FIFA, and Mexico swept in.
