Liverpool’s New Johnson

Look I’m probably not the first wag to put up that title so don’t even think about sending any letters to the corporate headquarters. In what has been one of the most memorable transfer seasons in some time, Liverpool are close to announcing their first major signing. Many have hailed Glenn Johnson as the preeminent English right back in the game today. And while Chelsea may have wanted him back, his experience at Stamford Bridge has left too foul an aftertaste. So hopefully Johnson may be the first domino to fall in Rafa’s summer campaign. What is odd so far has been the relative quiet from Chelsea. With a new superstar manager, I’ve been quite surprised by their lack of activity. Could David Villa remedy this malaise?

Can we finally change the name of this site to Scouserati? Maybe get some banner ads for fashionable men’s headbands and home invasion insurance?

Fact: This is Soccerati’s second post related to Liverpool during this transfer season. Fact: More space has been devoted to Man U, Serie A, managerial changes, etc. than on Liverpool. Fact: When the Respect Campaign started… oh wait wrong rant. Suck Me biznatch YNWA.

Yeah, Antiscouse. Back off Sangy. Just because Sangy wants to give me a big lick for quietly marrying my girlfriend/mustache instead of writing about the brilliance of Kaka in the Confed, the conflicting rules of FIFA regarding video review, the myriad failures of Bob Bradley in pregame and in-game tactics, or South Africa’s performance as host of Confed, doesn’t make this a Scouser site.

Antiscouse, if you want in on the post-privilege action, we can talk!

We could be the Ebert and Siskel of the soccer blogging world Tagger. And for ignoring the Confederation Cup I’m guilty, been very piss poor. But if a get a headband in the mail my efforts could improve…

Oh wait if you go back a few posts I think I’m leading the fight to have Bradley replaced by someone like Mancini or any major manager without a job right now. Would Rijkard been a good candidate? I think so, and is the Galatasary job that much better than the US national team post?

    @ ‘dinho: ship it.

@ Sangy: I’ll be Ebert to your Siskel any day, only without the whole jaw cancer and death obstacles. Perhaps we should shoot for Roeper-Wilonsky to start.

Let the bitterness and venom begin.

Looks like you got your wish- Chelsea woke up this morning and matched the offer to P’mouth. Or maybe they didn’t, depending upon which ill-informed tab you prefer.

Well if he’s going to Chelsea must be a scum Manc paper. And it starts.
